Recommended Reading For The Midstate Sports Nut In You

By Bill "Buster" Etsweiler

The Pennsylvania Midstate ... home of shoefly pie, great fly fishing, City Island, and the world's best biker.

For those who might not get the last one, let me spell it out for you. Floyd Landis.

Yesterday, the Lancaster County native, who now hails from San Diego, saw yellow. That is, the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. After the most grueling stage of race, Landis stood wearing the most sought after jersey.

Some are predicting that Landis will be the man to win the Tour and climb atop the Paris stage, replacing retired legend Lance Armstrong.

Interested in learning more. Then, as I reach into my sports library of Web addresses, I recommend that you read this story from VeloNews and the Landis blog.

(Editor's Note: Bill "Buster" Etsweiler is an avid biker, who sometimes can be seen on his tandem bike riding through the Carlisle countryside as he trains for 100-mile races. When not in training for tandem racing, he enjoys his other bikes as well as wiffleball. Buster's column appears as needed and can only be found on North Ridge Buzz.)
